Too many small businesses and individuals chose to get a website from a company offering a range of standard package options. You've probably seen phrases like "Business card website", "Brochure site" and "Small e-commerce website". Each option offering you a set number of pages for a set price. Each option will be created from a set template that your logo and colour scheme will slot into.

The main reasons for this being so commonplace I believe are "ease" and "affordability". Picking a set package from a list of options is the easy choice if you don't know what you really want from your website. But that doesn't mean it's the right choice. My personal approach to website design will help you to make the right choice.

Affordability is obviously a major factor in the decisions you make about your website. Packages appear more affordable because the company offering them can churn them out easily and quickly as most of the design work has already been done.
